This heritage-listed hotel holds the unique distinction of being the narrowest pub in the Southern Hemisphere, a testament to its long and storied past. Though no longer serving as a traditional bar, this historic space was once a bustling social hub, playing a key role in the daily lives of Kalgoorlie’s mining community. Located along the old railway line, which once ran out front, it was directly connected to the Golden Mile, making it a convenient stop for miners heading to and from work. After long shifts underground, miners would disembark at the nearby station and gather here, filling the bar with conversation, camaraderie, and well-earned drinks.

Beneath the surface, hidden from view, lies a fascinating remnant of the past—a cellar tucked beneath the floor, still concealed beneath the carpet today. This underground space was likely used for storing barrels of beer, keeping them cool before being brought upstairs to quench the thirst of hardworking miners. In its prime, this narrow yet lively bar would have seen plenty of action, serving as a key gathering place for the local community. While its purpose has evolved over time, the spirit of the past still lingers, offering visitors a glimpse into Kalgoorlie’s rich social and working-class history.
