Mazzucchelli's Clock

A Timeless Landmark

Standing proudly in this exhibit is the famous Mazzucchelli’s clock, a piece of Boulder’s history that once stood along Burt Street. More than just a decorative timepiece, this clock served an important purpose—it was used to track tram times, helping locals stay on schedule as they navigated daily life in the bustling mining town.

The clock originally belonged to Mazzucchelli’s Jewellers, a business with a long-standing reputation for fine craftsmanship. While the original Boulder store is a thing of the past, Mazzucchelli’s continues to thrive in Perth today, a testament to its enduring legacy.

Remarkably, this mechanical clock is still in working order. Every few days, the cabinet is opened, a crank is inserted, and the clock is wound, allowing its weight-driven mechanism to continue ticking away. Despite its age, it remains highly accurate, a testament to the quality and engineering of its time. Today, the Mazzucchelli’s clock stands as a symbol of Boulder’s past, connecting visitors to the rhythm of life in a bygone era.
