Habitat: From open oceans, to shallow nearshore reefs
Conservation Status: Near threatened
Threats: Fishing, shark finning
Researcher Note:
When tiger sharks reproduce, they develop the eggs inside their bodies but do not lay them. Instead the embryos hatch within their mother’s uterus and grow to be juvenile sharks before being born. This is known as aplacental viviparity or ovoviviparity.
