A Life Saver

The boat suspended above you is the lifeboat from the Yuna.

Yuna was a harbour and salvage tug operating out of the Port of Fremantle between 1952 and 1971.

The tug was originally fitted with wooden lifeboats. This aluminum lifeboat replaced one of the wooden lifeboats in 1961.

As well as towing vessels in the harbour, Yuna was involved in the deep sea salvage of several ships. The most famous of these rescues was the tanker Bridgewater.
