Woodline Office

A Lasting Piece of Timber Industry History

This Woodline office building once served as the administrative center for the Golden Mile and Murchison Timber Company, an essential part of the timber industry that supported Kalgoorlie’s mining operations. Originally located at a rail siding approximately half a mile northwest of Hainault, this office played a key role in coordinating the transportation and supply of timber—critical for supporting the vast underground mining network of the Golden Mile.

It is believed to be the last of the Woodline offices to operate, marking the final chapter of an era when timber was the lifeblood of the mining industry. These offices were vital for managing everything from logistics and worker operations to financial records and supply chains, ensuring the smooth running of timber transport by rail.

Today, this historic structure stands as a reminder of the once-thriving Woodline industry, which provided the materials that kept Kalgoorlie’s mines running. Visitors can step inside and get a glimpse into the administrative side of an industry that powered the Goldfields, long before modern infrastructure took over.
