Oblong Sunfish

The Oblong Sunfish, also known as the Slender Sunfish, is a fascinating creature that calls the waters off the southern Australian coast its home. Easily recognisable by its elongated body and unique appearance, this fish offers a wonderful glimpse into the diverse marine life of the region.

Despite its unusual shape, the Oblong Sunfish is a master of the ocean. It can often be seen basking near the surface, soaking up the sun’s rays. This behaviour not only helps regulate its body temperature but also aids in digesting its diet of jellyfish and small fish.
