Neill’s cottage

Collector Robert Neill lived with his family in a cottage on Corndarup / Mount Clarence. With Menang people, Neill would capture marsupials, bringing them to his cottage where they were kept alive so he could study and draw them. Menang people also told Neill their names for the marsupials and he recorded them.

Historian Tiffany Shellam describes how Neill’s cottage was like a domestic laboratory.
