Model – Batavia Road
A Fisherman’s Craft from the 1950s
This model of Batavia Road was made by Bob Sweet during an Abrolhos Islands fishing season in the 1950s. Bob’s father, Captain Sweet, served as Harbour Master at the Port of Geraldton, and the family’s life was closely tied to the sea.
The model captures the working life and maritime heritage of the Abrolhos, where fishing has long been a vital industry.
