Carnarvon Youth Activities Memorial

Panel Designs

The panels along the café feature vibrant depictions of local culture and history. Among these are images of boys playing basketball, symbolising the basketball courts that were once a popular gathering spot for the youth. These courts played a significant role in the community's social life.

In the larger panels, you'll notice a bus towing a trailer, representing trips to Two Mile. This scene commemorates outings where local men took young boys surfing and fishing. The surfboards atop the bus and the fishing rods in hand highlight these cherished activities.

These excursions provided an opportunity for cultural connection and learning from elders. Although these programs no longer exist, they remain a treasured memory for many in Carnarvon. The artistic representation in the building serves to honor this rich history, celebrating the community's shared experiences and contributions.
