Discover the rich oral histories of the Gascoyne
Experience the rich oral traditions of the "Untouchable Stories of the Gascoyne" at the listening seat, an immersive audio-visual exhibit. This unique collection showcases stories from Elders representing each of the five language groups in the Gascoyne region.
Antoinette Roe and Norma Lee have meticulously recorded these narratives, preserving the voices and histories of these communities. Visitors can engage with each Elder’s story through interactive features that provide deeper insights into their lives and cultures.
Meet Bella Randall from the Thudgarri, Betty Fletcher from the Malgana, Gwen Peck of the Baiyungu, John Dale from the Thalanyji, and Thomas Dodd representing the Yinggarda. Each Elder offers a unique perspective, contributing to a richer understanding of the region's cultural tapestry.
