Jardilunji Mia Training Cafe

Empowering Aboriginal youth through hospitality training

Jardilunji Mia, meaning “eating house” in the local Yinggarda language, is the welcoming training café at Gwoonwardu Mia in Carnarvon. Since opening in 2023, the café has become an important part of the Gwoonwardu Mia Training and Development Hub, combining great food, cultural connection and hands-on hospitality training.

More than just a café, Jardilunji Mia provides Aboriginal students with real-world experience in a working hospitality environment, helping them build practical skills, confidence and pathways into employment. Through partnerships with organisations including Real Futures, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, Tourism WA, the Western Australian Museum and the Gascoyne Development Commission, the café continues to support training and career development while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of the Gascoyne region.

Visitors can enjoy fresh meals, quality coffee and warm country hospitality in a relaxed setting, while knowing that every visit helps support the next generation of Aboriginal hospitality professionals. The café reflects Gwoonwardu Mia’s commitment to preserving culture, creating opportunities and strengthening community through meaningful education and employment.

Whether you’re stopping in for breakfast, lunch or a coffee, Jardilunji Mia offers a unique dining experience where culture, community and opportunity come together.
