Model of Batavia (1629)

This model was constructed by Geoff Kimpton, a former member of the Western Australian Museum's Department of Maritime Archaeology, who generously donated it to the department in April 2013. The model was built over a ten-year period.

Geoff was also responsible for fabricating the steel frame for the Batavia hull reconstruction, and was part of the team who excavated and reassembled the timbers recovered from the wreck site.
